SAADANI NATIONAL PARK
Where lions meet turtle
It has an area of 1.062 km square and was officially gazetted in 2005, from a game reserve which had existed from 1969.
Saadani is Tanzanian’s only coastal wildlife sanctuary comprising a full cross section of environments from savanna to seashore.
In the detail of the natural life it is hard to find a match for Saadani, where elephants and lions are part of the park’s life.
It is here where conservation targets are not only focused on land ecosystem but are extended to the green turtle and mangrove forest as well.
The unforgettable experience in Saadani is the boat safari on Wami river, where Hippopotamus and Crocodiles can be spotted in big numbers.
